Itinerary
Welcome to the Eastern Himalayas! Your journey begins at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station, where you will be greeted for a scenic ascent toward Gangtok. As you wind through lush emerald forests, the road takes you alongside the roaring Teesta River.
En route, pause at Kalimpong to feel the pulse of the mountains with an optional white-water rafting session. Navigate the Teesta's gushing rapids, surrounded by spectacular Himalayan gorges—a true adrenaline kick to start your trip (at your own expense). After your riverside adventure, continue the climb to Gangtok, the vibrant capital of Sikkim. Check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening, soaking in the crisp mountain air during your overnight stay.
After a hearty breakfast, embark on a comprehensive tour of Gangtok’s most cherished landmarks. Begin your morning at Tashi Viewpoint, where, on a clear day, the colossal peaks of Mt. Kanchenjunga appear close enough to touch. Continue your spiritual ascent to Ganesh Tok and Hanuman Tok, hilltop sanctuaries where the fluttering prayer flags and panoramic city views create a sense of absolute peace.
In the afternoon, dive deep into the soul of Sikkim. Visit the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom to witness local artisans at work, and explore the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, home to one of the world's largest collections of Tibetan artifacts. Conclude your day at the Do-Drul Chorten Monastery, where you can walk alongside devotees as they turn the 108 golden prayer wheels that encircle the stupa. Return to your hotel for a relaxing evening in the capital.
Prepare for an extraordinary journey as you ascend to 12,400 feet into the rugged landscapes of East Sikkim. Your first stop is Kyongnosla, a sanctuary of rare alpine flora and cascading waterfalls. The adventure continues to the breathtaking Tsomgo Lake, a sacred glacial body of water. Depending on the season, you’ll find the lake either frozen in a sheet of white or reflecting the deep blues of the sky, framed by sharp mountain ridges.
Next, travel further toward the border to the Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. This revered shrine honors a legendary Indian soldier whose spirit is said to still patrol these high-altitude passes. The air of devotion and the sheer silence of the mountains make this a deeply moving experience. After spending time amidst these Himalayan wonders, enjoy a scenic drive back to Gangtok for a cozy overnight stay.
After checking out from your hotel in Gangtok, begin a picturesque journey toward Pelling, the hidden gem of West Sikkim. Your first major stop is Ravangla, home to the magnificent Buddha Park. Here, you will be awestruck by the 130-foot golden statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, which sits majestically against a backdrop of rolling clouds and manicured gardens. Take a moment for quiet reflection in this peaceful sanctuary.
As the drive continues, keep your camera ready for breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Mt. Kanchenjunga range—the guardian deity of Sikkim. The winding roads offer a front-row seat to some of the world’s most dramatic mountain scenery. Upon reaching Pelling, check into your hotel and enjoy a tranquil evening in this quiet Himalayan town, followed by a restful overnight stay.
Begin your day with a journey into the spiritual heart of Pelling. Your first stop is the mystical Khecheopalri Lake, a sacred site where the waters are said to grant the wishes of the pure at heart. Nearby, explore the serene Khecheopalri Monastery before heading to the historic Pemayangtse Monastery. As one of Sikkim’s premier religious institutions, it houses extraordinary Buddhist art and a legendary seven-tiered wooden sculpture of Guru Rinpoche’s Celestial Palace.
In the afternoon, refresh your senses at the thunderous Rimbi Waterfalls and take a scenic stroll through Darap Valley, a quaint village where traditional Sikkimese life unfolds against rolling green hills. Conclude your tour with a walk back in time at the Rabdentse Ruins. Wander through the stone remnants of Sikkim’s second capital and stand where kings once stood, soaking in panoramic vistas of the valley and the Kanchenjunga range as the sun begins to set.
Bid farewell to the rugged heights of Sikkim as you descend toward Darjeeling, the legendary "Queen of the Hills." The drive is a sensory delight, taking you through endless waves of emerald-green tea plantations that carpet the rolling mountainsides. Upon arrival and check-in, the afternoon is yours to embrace the town’s nostalgic charm.
You might choose to ride the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, the world-famous UNESCO "Toy Train" that whistles through the misty streets. For those seeking spiritual stillness, the ancient Ghum Monastery awaits with its towering Maitreya Buddha and rare scrolls. Alternatively, find peace in the quiet corners of Rimbik, where the valley views stretch into the horizon. Spend your evening strolling through the vibrant Mall Road, soaking in the crisp mountain air before your overnight stay.
Your day begins in the early hours with a journey to Tiger Hill for a quintessential Himalayan experience. Stand in awe as the first rays of light touch the summit of Mt. Kanchenjunga, transforming the peaks from cool blue to a fiery, molten gold. On your descent, stop at the Batasia Loop, a masterclass in railway engineering where the Toy Train tracks spiral through beautifully landscaped gardens and a solemn War Memorial, all set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains.
Continue your spiritual journey at the historic Ghoom Monastery. Stepping inside, you’ll be greeted by the scent of butter lamps and the sight of a magnificent 15-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha. Admire the intricate murals and ancient Tibetan scrolls while the rhythmic chants of monks offer a moment of deep Himalayan peace. After a morning of discovery, return to the town center to enjoy the colonial charm of Darjeeling at your own pace.
As your journey through the "Queen of the Hills" comes to an end, enjoy one last breakfast overlooking the mist-covered tea gardens. After checking out, embark on a final scenic descent through the winding mountain roads of West Bengal. As you are transferred to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station, you’ll carry with you the golden glow of the Tiger Hill sunrise, the echoes of temple bells, and the timeless charm of the mountains. Though you head back home, a piece of your heart will surely remain tucked away in the serene valleys of Sikkim and Darjeeling.
